Eastfield Wins Regional and Advances to NJCAA World Series
The Eastfield Harvesters are Regional Champions and will play in the NJCAA World Series in Greeneville, Tennessee.
The Harvesters opened up the tournament with a 12-3 win over North Arkansas on Thursday. RHP Chris Dickens earned the win throwing a complete game while only allowing 1 earned run. Dickens also homered to dead center in the game. Center fielder Jerrick Ervin and left fielder Cade Conway homered in the game as well.
Friday, Eastfield outlasted Richland in a slugfest by a score of 18-14. LHP Stephen Pena earned the win in relief including 4 scoreless innings to end the game. Tyler Justice hit a key pinch hit 3-run homerun in the 5th inning to extend the lead to 4 which proved to be enough for the Harvesters.
Saturday, Eastfield dropped the first game to Richland but bounced back to win the next game by a score of 15-2 to punch their ticket to the NJCAA World Series. Starter Zane Leonard kept the Richland bats quiet firing 7 innings only giving up 2 runs. Leonard tallied 10 strikeouts in the outing. Reliever Nathan McKissick was sharp in relief closing out the game with two clean innings. The offense was lead by three hit performances by Conway, Dickens, and designated hitter Jayden Morgan.
The World Series will be played 5/28-6/2. The Harvesters await seeding with an overall record of 44-10-1 and a #4 ranking in the NJCAA Baseball national polls.
