Eastfield Meets Herkimer Saturday to Open NJCAA DIII World Series
Dallas College Eastfield's baseball team will meet Herkimer College to open the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III World Series 11:45 a.m. CT Saturday at Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tennessee.
The No. 2-seeded Harvester Bees (45-11) are making their second straight trip to the World Series. Eastfield fell to seventh-seeded Herkimer (38-7) twice in last year's World Series, including in the championship game. Herkimer received the lone at-large bid to this year's eight-team national tournament.
The World Series is a double-elimination tournament, and runs through May 31, with an if-necessary championship game set for June 1.
Eastfield won the South Central District championship for the second straight year after repeating as Dallas Athletic Conference champions.
The Harvester Bees won the national title in 2001, 2006 and 2011 – the last two under current head coach Michael Martin. They were runner-up in 1998 and 2022.
