Herrera Named DAC Hitter of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's Jorge Herrera was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

A freshman designated hitter from Mesquite, Texas, Herrera batted .555 (5-for-9) with two home runs, a double, nine runs batted in and six runs scored as the No. 2-ranked Harvester Bees went 3-0 last week. He homered, and drove in four runs, going 2-for-3 in the first game of a doubleheader with North Arkansas College Eastfield won, 12-0, in five innings. Herrera homered, and drove in two runs in the nightcap's 9-2 victory. In the first game of the week, he was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI as the Bees beat Dallas-Fort Worth Prep, 19-9, in a seven-inning run rule victory.

Herrera is batting .381 with two homers, two doubles and 14 RBI this season.

Ranked No. 2 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, Eastfield (8-1) will host Dallas College Mountain View (2-1) in a nonconference game 12 p.m. Tuesday.
