Dyer, Poole Sweep Final DAC Players of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's Ryan Dyer and Payton Poole were named the final Dallas Athletic Conference Baseball Players of the Week this season. Dyer was selected as the Pitcher of the Week, while Poole was named the Hitter of the Week.

It is the second time this year Poole received the honor.

A freshman right hander from North Richland Hills, Texas, Dyer went five innings, allowing no runs, four hits and no walks, and struck out four to pick up the win in the final regular season game of the year as Eastfield shut out Dallas College North Lake, 6-0. It was his third start of the season, and his longest outing. It is also second appearance when he hasn't allowed a run.

Dyer improved to 3-2 with a save and 4.78 earned run average and 37 strikeouts in 37.2 innings pitched.

Poole, a sophomore first baseman from Benbrook, Texas, batted .571, going 4-for-7 with eight runs batted in, a double, two stolen bases and four walks as the third-ranked Harvester Bees swept a three-game series from North Lake. He hit safely and drove in at least one run in each of the three games. Poole went 2-for-3 with three RBI in the 12-1 run-rule victory in Game 1. He doubled and drove in four runs in the final game of the regular season to complete the sweep.

Eastfield (44-11, 25-5 DAC) won the league title for the third straight year, and will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament Thursday-Saturday. The Bees have a first round bye in Wednesday's single-elimination portion of the tournament, which will be held at Dallas College Brookhaven. Eastfield plays the lowest remaining seed at 10 a.m. Thursday.
