Martin to be Inducted into NJCAA Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame

MICHAEL MARTIN ACCEPTANCE SPEECH

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Eastfield baseball coach Michael Martin will be inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame.

A 25-year head coach at Eastfield, Martin owns an 861-458-1 record, highlighted by two NJCAA Division III national championships with the Harvester Bees. As a college coach, which includes four years at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, he's compiled a 967-556-3 overall record.

Martin guided the Harvester Bees to the national championship in 2006 and 2011. His teams finished as the national runner-up in 2022, 2023 and 2024. He was named the NJCAA Division III Coach of the Year in both of the years he captured the title.

"To be included among so many outstanding coaches, many of whom I've admired, competed against and learned from, is something I never take for granted," Martin said. "I want to thank the NJCAA for this incredible recognition. Junior college athletics holds a special place in my heart."

Martin's 2006 team beat Rowan College of South Jersey Gloucester 4-2 to cap a 44-17 campaign. His 2011 Harvesters team also beat the Roadrunners 8-4 to finish off a 34-19 season.

His 2024 runner-up club won 50 games. From 2022-24, the Bees won at least 47 games in each season, compiling a 145-40-1 record.

"I've been fortunate to work alongside outstanding assistant coaches throughout my career," Martin said. "To my players, past and present, you are the reason I stand here today."

Martin has coached 35 NJCAA Division III All-Americans and 129 All-Conference/All-Region selections. He's won 12 Metro Athletic Conference or Dallas Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place May 22 before the start of the NJCAA Division I World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.
