Reliford Named National Player of the Week
Dallas College Eastfield's Dwayne Reliford was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
A 6-foot-6 freshman forward from Chicago, Reliford averaged 11.8 points, 12 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks as No. 10 Eastfield won a pair of Dallas Athletic Conference games last week. He was 14 of 24 from the field, including 3 of 3 from the three-point line.
He was also named the DAC Player of the Week.
In a 111-100 win over Dallas College Mountain View, he scored 20 points on 7 of 12 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, had four steals, two assists and a block. In a 104-95 victory over Dallas College Brookhaven, Reliford had 17 points on 7 of 12 shooting, 13 rebounds, three steals, three assists and two blocks.
Reliford has scored in double figures in nine straight games, and his two double-doubles last week give him four this season. He is averaging 11.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game, while shooting 54.7 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from 3-point range.
Eastfield (19-6, 5-3) will play at No. 9 Dallas College Richland (13-9, 5-3) in a pivotal game 6 p.m. Wednesday.
