Wright Named DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas College Eastfield's Vashney Wright III was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-1 guard from Dallas, Wright scored 27 points, had five rebounds, three steals and three assists in 22 minutes of a 104-101 win over National Junior College Athletic Association Division I-previously unbeaten Connors State College Saturday. Wright was 8 of 14 from the floor, including 4 of 7 from three-point range. He sank two critical free throws with 13.5 seconds left to tie the game at 101 before the Harvester Bees won it on the final possession.

Wright's 27 points were a season high.

Eastfield (4-9) will host Southwestern Christian College 6 p.m. Monday and Arlington Baptist University Red 6 p.m. Wednesday before visiting Hill College Saturday.
