James Chosen as National Player of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Eastfield's Martez James was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-6 sophomore forward from The Woodlands, Texas, James averaged 17 points, 11 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game as Eastfield went 2-1 last week. He had a triple-double and two double-doubles. James had a triple-double against CYM Prep, scoring 21 points, grabbing 12 boards and distributing 12 assists. He had a double-double with 11 points and 11 boards in a setback to McLennan Community College. He had another double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a victory over Loyalty College Prep.

James is averaging 16.4 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals this season.

Eastfield (3-4) hosts CYM Prep 6 p.m. Thursday.
