No. 14 Eastfield Takes Perfect League Record into Break

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's No. 14-ranked men's basketball team closed the first part of Dallas Athletic Conference play before the holiday break with an 83-76 win over No. 16 Dallas College North Lake Saturday.

The Harvester Bees (8-5, 3-0 DAC) will return to the court Jan. 5 at home against Community Christian College to begin a four-game homestand after the New Year.

Saturday's win followed up a 76-68 triumph over Dallas College Brookhaven as the Bees remained tied at the top of the DAC standings with No. 6 Dallas College Richland. Those teams will meet Jan. 14 when conference play resumes.

Eastfield hit 50 percent of its field goals, going 30 of 60 against the Blazers, who were the top team receiving votes in the national poll. North Lake (8-6, 1-1) also shot 50 percent, going 28 of 56.

Braydon Campbell scored 21 points, sinking 9 of 12 free throws, and had seven assists for Eastfield. Martin Nicholas had 19 points, 14 rebounds, four assists and three steals. He was 8 of 12 from the floor. Aiden White scored 18 points, while burying 4 of 6 three-point field goals.

North Lake's Damiran Smith scored 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting. Zach Thompson had 16 points, four rebounds and a block. Romiel Carter had 12 points, eight boards and two blocks. Elijah Black finished with 10 points and six assists.

The Harvester Bees built a 12-point halftime lead. The Blazers outscored the Bees by five in the second half, but Eastfield held them off.

Eastfield was 16 of 26 from the free throw line. North Lake was 12 of 19. The Blazers hit 8 of 15 three-pointers, while the Bees were 7 of 15 from long distance.
