Campbell, James Earn All-America Honors
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Eastfield's Braydon Campbell was named a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Third Team All-American. Harvester Bees teammate Martez James was chosen as an Honorable Mention All-American.
A freshman guard from Angleton, Texas, Campbell averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. He was an 82.2 percent free throw shooter. Campbell matched his season high with 29 points against Dallas College North Lake in the South Central District semifinals, and had 28 in a win over Dallas College Richland Feb. 18. He scored 20 or more points in eight games. Over the last four games, he was 29 for 29 at the free throw line. He had a season-high 10 assists against Joliet Junior College in the opening round of the NJCAA Division III Tournament, and had eight in three other games. Campbell had three steals in four games.
A sophomore forward from The Woodlands, Texas, James averaged 14.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 1.1 steals and nearly a block per game. He scored a career-best 27 points in a 99-79 win over Temple College Nov. 25, and had 24 points against his former team at Blinn College Nov. 3 on the season-opening weekend. He pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds in the NJCAA Division III Consolation Round win over Northampton Community College. James had 19 double-doubles. He had a season-high five steals in the season opener at Lee College, and blocked three shots twice.
Campbell and James joined fellow Dallas Athletic Conference players Jase Tarver of Richland and North Lake's Romiel Carter on the All-America teams.
