Smart Collects DAC Player of the Week Honor

Dallas College Eastfield's Amber Smart and Dallas College Cedar Valley's Kalaya Pierce were named the Dallas Athletic Conference volleyball Players of the Week.

Smart, a freshman outside hitter from Corpus Christi, Texas, helped the Harvester Bees go 2-2 in picking up their first two wins of the season. Smart had double-digit digs in a pair of those four matches. She finished the week with 36 digs in 11 sets, 26 kills, including nine and a .364 hitting percentage in a sweep of Southwestern Christian College, five aces and two blocks. Her 14 digs in the first of two wins over Southwestern Christian is a season high.

Eastfield (2-6) plays at the Blinn Volleyball Invitational Friday and Saturday in Brenham, Texas, before opening DAC play at home against Dallas College Mountain View 6 p.m. Monday.
