Eastfield to Meet Dutchess to Open NJCAA DIII Tournament
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Eastfield earned the No. 1 seed to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Volleyball Tournament Nov. 9-11 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The No. 1-ranked Harvester Bees (31-0) will meet 16th-seeded Dutchess 1 p.m. Nov. 9 in the opening round at Alliant Energy Powerhouse.
"They're a true team," Bees second-year coach Phil Nickel said. "We have good players, but we don't have that one super star that gets all the spotlight and everything. They all contribute, and they all are part of it, and they work together, and they like each other."
Eastfield won the national title in 2017, beating Harper College in four sets in Rochester, Minnesota to take home the crown. The Harvester Bees returned to the NJCAA Division III Championship the following year, falling in five sets to Owens Community College.
Bounced in the NJCAA South District semifinals by Dallas College North Lake for the second time this season, Brookhaven (13-15) earned the No. 10 seed, and will play No. 7 Caldwell Tech 11 a.m. in the first round.
