Santos, Gibson Collect Third Player of Week Honors

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Eastfield's Mia Santos and Patience Gibson have been named the Dallas Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week.

Santos earned the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the third time. Gibson won the Defensive Player of the Week for third time.

A 5-foot-9-inch sophomore outside hitter from Forney, Texas, Santos hit .317 with 28 kills, and had 13 digs and an ace as the Harvester Bees won both matches last week. She had a career-high 23 kills against Lee College, while hitting .319.

Santos is the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III leader in kills (185) and is is fifth in kills per set (4.02).

A 5-6 freshman libero from Royse City, Texas, Gibson had 29 digs, 12 aces and seven assists in the two wins. She had a career-best 10 aces against Southwestern Christian, with a perfect 3.0 passing grade for the match. She had 23 digs against Lee.

Gibson has 215 digs and 43 aces this season.

No. 1 Eastfield (13-1) will play at the Seminole State Tri-Match Saturday before beginning Dallas Athletic Conference action at No. 10 Dallas College Brookhaven next Monday.
