Gibson Named National Defensive Player of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Eastfield's Patience Gibson was chosen as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-6 freshman libero from Royse City, Texas, Gibson had 39 digs and five aces in a pair of sweeps over ranked opponents. She had four aces against No. 11 Brookhaven and 25 digs at No. 7 North Lake. She averaged 6.5 digs per set, helping hold North Lake to a .016 hitting percentage and Brookhaven to .087. Gibson's 302 digs rank tied for ninth in NJCAA Division III.

Eastfield (18-1, 3-0 DAC) will play at Dallas College Cedar Valley 6 p.m. Thursday.
