Gibson Named NJCAA Defensive Player of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Eastfield volleyball's Patience Gibson was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Defensive Player of the Week.

A freshman libero from Royse City, Texas, Gibson collected 34 digs and served three aces in a pair of sweeps over Dallas College Cedar Valley and Dallas College Mountain View. She averaged 6.8 digs per set, helping hold Cedar Valley to a .029 hitting percentage and Mountain View to a .025 attack percentage. She had 10 digs in two sets against Cedar Valley and 24 digs in three sets against Mountain View.

Gibson has racked up 408 digs and 66 aces this season. She is averaging 4.92 digs per set, which ranks 25th in the nation.

Eastfield (25-1) will play in the NJCAA Division III South District semifinals 5:30 p.m. Friday at home. The match will be broadcast on the DAC Sports Network.
